This is Adelaide - a city where there's always something on.

Australia day will mean there will be lost of activities going on around the city and if your not planning to attend our Australia day party the some of the following might be of interest to you . . .
Celebrations in Adelaide will centre on the city and Elder Park. Here are some of the highlights:10am-11am: 2008 Australia Day Community Parade, King Williams Street to Elder Park. 11am: Australia Day Elder Park Community Festival, with roving entertainers, amusements, face painters, and exhibitions. 7pm: The 2008 Australia Day Concert featuring Kate Ceberano, culminating in a fireworks spectacular.
For shopaholics, wander down Rundle Mall and indulge in some retail therapy. There's more than 800 shops to choose from, so you won't run out of options. Just be sure to pick up some treats from Haigh's Chocolates - they'll help you deal with life when you eventually have to go home. Read the Adelaide Shopping pages for more ideas.
If you want to immerse yourself in South Australia's arts and culture, stroll along North Terrace - Adelaide's "cultural boulevard." It's home to the Aboriginal Cultures Gallery in the South Australian Museum, Adelaide Botanic Garden and the National Wine Centre. Just around the corner, wander through the fascinating National Aboriginal Cultural Institute - Tandanya.  And if you're after a meal or a drink, there are more than 700 restaurants, cafes and pubs to choose from. So, sample the al fresco styles of East Rundle Street, try the seafood and Asian cuisine at Gouger Street, and treat yourself to some fine dining at the restaurants and cafes of North Adelaide.
But if there's one thing you absolutely must do, it's take a trip to the Adelaide Central Market. It's open every Saturday - and the best time to turn up is early in the morning for breakfast.
Head for the Coast Situated along the coastline of Gulf St Vincent, Adelaide's beach districts stretch out over an area that's almost thirty kilometres long. That's a lot of sand for you to play on.
Head down to the cosmopolitan Jetty Road at Glenelg, enjoy the seaside village atmosphere at Brighton, or take in the stunning views from Kingston House, located at Kingston Park

Remember to book accommodation early for better r rates as it will be a long weekend and the cricket’s on so there may be a few more visitors than usual!

The Hilton, Hyatt, Stamford and other hotel chains are in all in the CBD and a few minutes cab ride from the festivities

If you need to rent a car their are many rentals at the airport otherwise if you get a better deal at a city supplier its only a $15 taxi fare away!

If your staying in city look out for the buses that are labelled city loop they are free and go all around the city centre centre

Kangaroo Island for the true outback Australian experience and is over run with koalas - off road driving, kangaroos hoping past your window, seals swimming meters from you. Seal bay is stunning!
Handorf and Adelaide hill host some amazing scenery and eateries. Handorf was the first settled SA German town and still shares the old charm spirit - check out the hardorf meal for a great schnitty!
